The constitutional Prohibition Against Lobbying by a Public Officer implements a constitutional amendment that voters approved in 2018, restricting lobbying during their term in office and extending the period that certain elected officials can lobby after leaving office from two to six years. December 31, 2022 is the deadline for municipal officers to step down from office to avoid running afoul of the prohibition. Resignations are expected across the state.
